Our faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Ündül and Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatma Gülmez from the Department of Geological Engineering have started a collaboration with the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Processing Technologies at the Konya Technical University. The project which is led by Hatice Ünal Ercan titled “Experimental Investigation of Geological Carbon Storage Potential of Mafic/Ultramafic Rock Groups of the Orhaneli Ophiolite: Geological/Mineralogical Solution to the Carbon Dioxide Emission Problem, TUBITAK 1001”, aims to conduct fundamental and pioneering studies to establish the groundwork for future Carbon-Zero facilities.
This multi-disciplinary collaboration intertwines expertise from the Geological Engineering and Chemistry departments, demonstrating the universities' commitment to addressing environmental challenges through innovative research. The outcomes of their combined efforts are expected to make a significant contribution to the advancement of carbon storage technologies and the establishment of Carbon-Zero facilities in the future.
