Three faculty members from the Department of Geophysics Engineering have been invited to Editorial Boards of distinguished Journals of Earth Sciences.

Our faculty member Prof. Dr. Tuncay Taymaz, the Group Leader of the Seismology Laboratory and Seismology, Seismotectonic and Geodynamics Research Group, was selected as an Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor for Tectonophysics WoS SCI Journal, which is included in the Elsevier Publications series, one of the important journals of the Geophysics Department.

Professor Taymaz has also been recently invited to Associate Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Asian Earth Sciences (JAES), one of the important journals of Geophysics and Geological Sciences in the Elsevier Publications series within the scope of ISI-WoS Clarivate.

Our faculty member Prof. Dr. Seda Yolsal-Çevikbilen, in the Seismology, Seismotectonics and Geodynamics Research Group of the Department of Geophysical Engineering, has been selected as the Associate Editor in the Journal of Asian Earth Sciences: X in the Elsevier Publications series.

Our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuna Eken in the Seismology, Seismotectonics and Geodynamics Research Group of the Department of Geophysical Engineering has been selected to Editorial Board of the Pure and Applied Geophysics (PAAG) journal in the field of Solid Earth Sciences. The PAAG is listed in WoS SCI journal in the Springer Publications series as one of the important journals of the Geophysical Science.

We congratulate our faculty members, who will make important contributions to the promotion and international visibility of ITU (Rankings), and wish them continued success.

The Faculty of Mines was established in 1953 in Istanbul. At its first years, the faculty composed of mainly Turkish and German professors, and its program was similar to those days’ famous mining schools such as Aachen, Clausthal and Freiberg.

Today, the Faculty of Mines with five departments (Mining, Geological, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Geophysical, and Mineral Processing Engineering) and 13 sub-divisions is graduating young and proficient engineers to search, develop and produce underground sources of Turkey.
