Visit from the rector of Bergakademie Freiberg Technical University

Rector of the Technical University of Bergakademie Freiberg, Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht and President of Dresden International University, Prof. Dr. Hans Müller-Steinhagen visited Faculty of Mines to establish future collaborations with our department members.

During the visit, Main laboratories and facilities of Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geophysical Engineering, Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, and Ore Preparation Engineering departments where our faculty conduct important scientific and technical experiments were introduced by our faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Tunçdemir, Prof. Dr. Emin Çiftçi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuna Eken, Prof. Dr. Ömer İnanç Türeyen and Dr. Mustafa Özer, respectively.

İTÜ Faculty of Mines

The Faculty of Mines was established in 1953 in Istanbul. At its first years, the faculty composed of mainly Turkish and German professors, and its program was similar to those days’ famous mining schools such as Aachen, Clausthal and Freiberg.

Today, the Faculty of Mines with five departments (Mining, Geological, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Geophysical, and Mineral Processing Engineering) and 13 sub-divisions is graduating young and proficient engineers to search, develop and produce underground sources of Turkey.
